Pitch competitions are a powerful way to not only acquire capital but also test and validate your business idea as you move to bring it to market. For fresh founders in Utah’s Six-County area, that opportunity is fast approaching.
The Everyday Entrepreneur Program, part of Snow College’s GRIT Center for Rural Development, is gearing up to host its upcoming pitch competition. As part of its mission to provide access to entrepreneurial education and funding for communities, GRIT is offering $30,000 in prizes, providing a great opportunity to build early capital.
Applications for the preliminary round must be submitted by midnight on Jan. 9, and those hoping to participate must be early-stage businesses, meaning they have generated some revenue but not exceeded $100,000 in earnings during the prior year.
At its core, the competition consists of two parts: Semi-Finals and Finals. Semi-finals will take place individually in Juab, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, and Wayne counties, with $1000 up for grabs in each competition. The top performing teams will advance to the final competition on Feb. 19 to compete for their share of $25,000.
To expand on what to expect, applicants may enter individually or in groups, and will submit up to three simple slides covering the problem they’re solving, the solution, market validation and competitors, and their future plans.
