Support Your Business With Industry Organizations

October 10, 2025

For Utah’s entrepreneurs, pinpointing the right industry isn’t just about defining your business — it’s about unlocking opportunity. The right network can turn ideas into action, connecting founders to mentors, resources, and collaborations that strengthen both their ventures and the state’s economy.

That idea is echoed in the Startup State Initiative’s Entrepreneur Journey, which encourages founders to join a community by engaging with industry organizations tailored to their sector. These networks form the foundation of Utah’s innovation ecosystem, helping businesses grow stronger together.

For example, in the aerospace and defense fields, 47G serves as one of the state’s leading industry hubs, linking companies with researchers and policymakers to help strengthen Utah’s innovation ecosystem. The organization recently merged with the Utah Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Initiative, creating a unified network that spans aerospace, advanced materials, and manufacturing.

Utah’s technology and life sciences industries are equally well-connected. Silicon Slopes represents the state’s tech sector, offering events, advocacy, and resources for startups and established ventures. BioHive, a life-sciences collective, fosters collaboration among biotech, medical device and diagnostics companies — helping fuel one of the state’s fastest-growing industries.

Beyond the Wasatch Front, agriculture and rural enterprise remain vital to Utah’s economy. Groups such as the Utah Farmers Union and Utah Farm Bureau advocate for farmers statewide, while the Rural Utah Chamber Coalition helps smaller communities access the training and support often concentrated in urban areas.

Tourism also plays a major role in the business ecosystem. The Utah Tourism Industry Association supports ventures across the state’s visitor economy, from lodging and recreation to destination marketing. The organization provides policy advocacy, networking opportunities, and educational programs to keep Utah’s tourism market thriving.

Together, these industry organizations, along with the dozens of others, form the backbone of Utah’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Whether developing innovative technology, growing crops, or building a software company, business owners can tap into sector-specific associations that connect them with mentors, capital and community.
