SUU Miller Center for Entrepreneurship Fuels Big Ambitions for Students

September 19, 2025

While high-rise boardrooms may symbolize success, many of Utah’s most promising startups are finding early momentum in classrooms, pitch competitions, and mentorship sessions at Southern Utah University.

At the heart of this momentum is SUU’s Larry H. & Gail Miller Center for Entrepreneurship, where student and community founders gain access to tools, networks, and programs to support early-stage success. From refining pitches for capital to go-to-market strategies, the program empowers entrepreneurs to turn ideas into successful businesses.

In addition to entrepreneurship courses and internships, the center runs a weekly Speaker Series featuring seasoned business leaders sharing real‑world lessons. Through the SUU Startup program, local entrepreneurs and innovators can tap into prototyping labs, shared 3D printers, studio and production space, conference rooms, and access to mentors.

The center also supports budding founders from all student majors with hands‑on learning opportunities, competitions, and networking through the Entrepreneurship Club and the Entrepreneur Leadership Council — making SUU a launchpad for ambitious students and startups ready to scale.

One standout opportunity hosted at SUU is the State Bank Business Challenge, a pitch competition for Utah entrepreneurs, awarding $50,000 in cash prizes. Unlike idea-based contests, this challenge is geared toward Utah businesses already generating revenue.

The application requires a video pitch submission with finalists presenting live to a panel of judges at the One Utah Summit in Cedar City. Participating companies gain exposure to investors and business leaders, with winners receiving mentorship and statewide visibility in addition to the cash prize.

Whether you’re a student founder or running a small business, Southern Utah University’s entrepreneurship ecosystem is built to accelerate your journey. You’ll find more than encouragement — you’ll find the resources to scale, succeed, and lead.
