SBDCs: Free Support to Help Small Businesses Start and Grow

January 8, 2026

With the start of a new year comes renewed motivation for entrepreneurs to sharpen their skills and grow their ventures. For any business owner, fresh or seasoned, Small Business Development Centers are a great place to go for industry-agnostic guidance.

SBDCs assist with a wide range of needs, including business plans, startup guidance, leadership development, capital access, marketing strategies, and more. Often underutilized, these helpful centers are designed to ensure business owners do not navigate challenges alone.

Utah’s SBDC network is no different, offering access to practical tools, statewide connections, certified professionals who conduct no-cost consulting, and free or low-cost training to assist entrepreneurs at every stage, from ideation to succession.

The best part? To participate, all you have to do is show up at a center ready to learn and grow. For those looking for virtual support, the SBDC’s Entrepreneur Academy acts as a hub of online counseling, training, podcasts, and webinars designed to support small business success.

This vital work is made possible through funding from partnerships with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, and Utah’s universities, as well as collaborating with local chambers, economic development organizations, and city and county leaders.

By helping first-time founders through steps such as validating their concepts before launching and assisting established companies in addressing growth challenges, Utah’s SBDCs play a key role in growing the state’s business ecosystem.

To find the nearest center, review the map featured on the SBDC website’s locations page. Looking to further support your small business?
