Why Utah?
UTAH: THE STARTUP STATE
The Startup State Initiative highlights what already exists in Utah and elevates it to new heights. It isn’t just about Utah, it’s about setting a new global standard for innovation and entrepreneurship.
This initiative aims to help startups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs at every stage of business by unifying the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem, simplifying government processes and regulatory burdens, ensuring Utah’s economic opportunity is equitably shared, and making impactful investments into access to capital for Utah small businesses.
The Startup State Initiative acknowledges the significant efforts of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and its partners to serve small businesses. These efforts include historic investments in the state’s five targeted industries through workforce investment, innovation, recruitment and retention, international trade and export, supply chain improvements, and reducing government regulation.
This site is a resource developed and maintained by the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity's Startup State Initiative, which is part of GOEO's business services team.
Startup.utah.gov's purpose is to support Utah entrepreneurs — from business ideation to startup to running a successful company, and eventually, to selling or closing a business in Utah.
This site shares information, news, directions, links to an entrepreneur's next steps, example startup journey maps, and statewide community events. It helps Utah entrepreneurs connect to the people and startup ecosystem organizations to help them succeed.
This site is iterative, with new functionality coming throughout 2024 and 2025. Startup.utah.gov will become one of the most important places a Utah entrepreneur can go to get the help and support of Utah government statewide.
